THIS is how you end a series! 823 pages of non-stop action. I am exhausted. Cinder is heading to Luna to start a revolution and remove Levana from the throne and it is quite the wild ride.

Princess Winter, the endearingly lovely (yet not entirely dealing with a full deck) step-daughter of Levana is suffering from major lunar sickness due to refusing to use her gift which causes her to spontaneously see bleeding walls or turn into a girl of ice and glass.

I chuckled through so many scenes between Winter and Scarlet because the two characters are so vastly different. Scarlet is no nonsense, ready to spring into action, save the world and help her friends while Winter tends to wander off in her own little world happily singing and howling to herself.

Thorne never fails to entertain. His confidence, his humor, his less than helpful suggestions always made me laugh. It was great watching Cress become brave and more confident with herself and her scenes with Thorne were always fantastic.

We are finally able to visit Luna and delve into this new world. It was interesting to see how the Lunars live. From the rich to the poor. From the glistening halls of the palace to the hovels and run down city streets where the commoners reside, barely able to get by, cut off from the rest of society.

So much is going on in this book that I recall thinking more than once, how many times are these guys going to get split up and end up in one more outrageous situation? Every time you think they are going to reunite they all end up scattering once again. Someone was constantly getting captured, escaping or disappearing. I could imagine Meyer gleefully typing away enjoying every minute while toying with our emotions.

All the story lines wrapped up nicely even though I did have different expectations for Cinder. I can't say I was entirely disappointed, I was mainly surprised with a particular choice she made as I had been hopeful for a slightly different outcome. 

None of the characters came out completely unscathed and there were quite a few surprises along the way. I felt like one particular character ended up getting the raw end of the deal, where happily ever afters are concerned, and I didn't understand exactly why. Iko's words sum up my feelings exactly, "Yeah, but broken isn't the same as unfixable." I definitely felt like some things could have been fixed for this character but I suppose not everything can be, "sunshine and stardust." If so, it would be a very boring story.

Overall this book was fantastic and just about everything I had hoped for. I'm so sad to see this series end. I'll be keeping an eye out for Meyer's work in the future and I'm incredibly excited to get my hands on her next book, Heartless.
