Spontaneously exploding teenagers? This story was original, hilarious, controversial and so very twisted. Mara is a witty, sarcastic narrator with enough snark to have me laughing throughout this whole book. It's senior year for these New Jersey teens and one by one they begin exploding. No warning, just there one second and gone the next.
I enjoyed Starmer's fast paced writing style. A couple of times I had to go back and reread a few lines. "Did that just happen? Yes. Yes, it did." Mara never lingers very long on any topic and before you know it, she's off and running to the next. I never had a chance to get bored and before I knew it, I was on the last page. This was a thought provoking, wild ride of a novel and I have yet to read anything remotely similar.
Thank you Dutton Books for Young Readers and First to Read for an egalley of this book in exchange for an honest review.
