Ruin and Rising is the 3rd and final book in the Grisha trilogy. It's been a wonderful journey and I will dearly miss many of the characters in this series. I hated to see it end but I was very happy with how everything tied up.

This book immediately sucked me in and I had no desire to put it down. I loved the cast of new characters and I couldn't help but enjoy every scene with Nikolai. He is so full of wit and sarcasm. He quickly became a new favorite character.

After having read and loved Six of Crows I needed more from the world of the Grisha so I excitedly jumped into Shadow and Bone. This tells the story of Alina Starkov an orphan who grows up believing she is no one special until she saves the life of her best friend by unintentionally unleashing a power she had no idea she possessed.

Wow! This was quite possibly the best book I've read this year. I loved it that much. First of all, the book itself is beautiful. When I saw it for the first time I knew my bookshelf was just aching to display it. The pages are stained and it is so dark and gorgeous.
The book is written in multiple points of view which was essential in helping us get to know each of the characters. They were all incredibly complex and you learn their histories in bits and pieces as the story progresses. They are all thieves and misfits, working together to infiltrate a massively guarded prison to free a scientist for an outrageous sum of money. Leigh herself described it as Oceans 11 meets Game of Thrones.
